Never Surrender!

Saturday, 23 March 2013

Just heard that Fabula Argentea have bought A Box of Photographs, a flash piece I wrote in 2011. This was one of those stories that came to me fully-formed and that took maybe an hour to draft. I was really pleased with it, but it was then rejected by ten different markets in a row. I must confess, I was beginning to think I should give up on it and that maybe it wasn't as good as I thought...

But, of course, you should never give up. The editor of Fabula describes it as a "brilliant, but sad, piece of flash fiction". That's a description I'm pretty delighted with.

A Box of Photographs is a literary/mainstream story (no aliens or zombies appear, weird huh?) It should be appearing in the July edition of the magazine.

    1. Thanks, Deborah. Short fiction sales have been slow here of late - perhaps because I'm focusing on novels a little more - so this was a welcome acceptance.

  6. I'm late coming in on this one, but congrats on your sale, Simon. I agree, never give up. I think if ultimately, you like a story, someone else will too.
No aliens or zombies? Trying something new- can't go wrong with that.
