This week my short fiction activities have been almost completely focused on SF story Malware. I originally figured this would be 3000 words long or so but it has growed and growed and is now around 10,000 words. The good news is it's finished. Next week I'll edit, polish and submit.

I've also written and submitted a couple of Twitter stories to the themed editions of PicFic, so I've managed to keep up for another week. And, therefore, month ...
Just one publishing success to report : as previously mentioned, The Square on the Hypotenuse from week #4 has been bought by PicFic for their "angle" edition.
Excellent work, Simon.
ReplyDeleteWell done you!!! And it may be "just" one but it's one more than most!! :-) Take care

Thanks Old Kitty. And yes, you're right. There's no "just" about it.
ReplyDeleteGood work, sir! Question: Which markets do you find willing to take a look at a 10K tale? So many of them say in their guidelines something to the effect of "We'll accept anything under 12,000 words, but we prefer stories closer to 5,000." When mine approach novellete-length, I worry about them ever finding good homes.
ReplyDeleteMilo,
ReplyDeleteThanks. And it's a very good question. I'm aiming to reduce this story down to 8K or so so we'll see how it does.
Brilliant news about the sale! Keep writing them!
ReplyDeleteEllie,
ReplyDeleteI certainly will! Thanks.
