My email is broken! It seems it has been for some time and emails from some people haven't been reaching me. Currently, nothing at all is getting through as I'm moving my hosting to someone more reliable. The horror, the horror! I'll spare you the technical details, but for the record email hosting on the internet is seriously broken ...
Just in case anyone reading this has tried to email me recently, there's a good chance it didn't reach me. Sorry. Of course, it would be just my luck that an email from my dream agent/publisher didn't get through and now they think I'm ignoring them and my writing career has been ruined as a result ...
Normal service will be resumed soon. I hope.
UPDATE : seems to be fixed now. My original email address is now working and the rejections have started rolling in again!

(I'm sitting here playing with the snow!)
ReplyDeleteSorry about the email. I haven't had problems with mine but blogger is trying to drive me insane....
I hope nothing important was lost or waylaid and that it all gets resolved quickly :(
Words Crafter,
ReplyDeleteI hope! Glad you're enjoying the snow ...
I hope you get it sorted soon. What a pain!
ReplyDeletefairyhedgehog,
ReplyDeleteHope so. Things like this make you realise how much we depend on this stuff ...
I hope your email starts cooperating again!
ReplyDeleteGolden,
ReplyDeleteThanks! I really, really hope so too ...
Stuff like this can make us feel so vulnerable. It's scary--one of the real weaknesses of the electronic age. So many things to go wrong. It's why I will always keep my house crammed full of paper books. Even if all the electronics in the world go down, I'll have a connection to other minds.
ReplyDeleteI hope it's cleared up soon.
Like the hat.
Ah - I did send you an e-mail, copied it to Sue, but haven't had any replies! Perhaps that is why then! Do you have an alternative yet? Presumably you haven't heard anything from Sue? (for the same reason!)
ReplyDeleteWhat a nightmare, (but I do love the new profile image, Simon. Very festive!)
ReplyDeleteAnne,
ReplyDeleteThanks. Glad you like the hat. I think it rather suits me!
Dominic,
ReplyDeleteNo, that's my bad : I got your email and I'm formulating a reply but the email problems have been exercising me rather. I'll get back to you ASAP. Hopefully my normal email address will be working sweetly very soon ...
I haven't heard from Sue either. I'll drop her a line.
Donna,
ReplyDeleteThanks! Glad you like the decorations!
Hey Simon I just noticed that Pill Hill Press describe themselves as "an independent publisher specialising in horror, suspense and dark fantasy". I guess we should bear that in mind?
ReplyDeleteNo problems on the e-mail. There is no sign of a deadline on Pill Hill Press website
Good luck sorting your email problems out!! Email is just so essential you must get that up and running asap! Take care
ReplyDeletex
I had no idea that email could break, service be interrupted, and I can't imagine how stressful that is, esp to a writer waiting for that one very happy email. :( Hope it gets taken care of very soon.
ReplyDeleteMe thinketh this stinketh. Hope you get everything sorted out AFAP -- and if you end up with a new email address, keep me apprised, Amigo!
ReplyDeleteDomin,
ReplyDeleteYes, we should - although I suppose any apocalypse is going to be pretty dark. I'll be in touch with you today.
Old Kitty,
ReplyDeleteI know. Nightmare!
Karen,
ReplyDeleteVarious things can go wrong. My old host was blocking perfectly good emails as it thought they were spam, which is a result of over-aggressive blacklisting. Moving to a new host means you can be invisble for a few days. Hopefully all sorted now!
Milo,
ReplyDeleteSorted now - and my original email address remains the one to use ...
Hope your e-mail gets thru soon. Your server is probably down.
ReplyDeleteKittie,
ReplyDeleteThanks. I think it's all working again now.
For the record, the problems stemmed from the useless way some hosts (such as my old one) filter out spam : they block entire IP addresses. So if one user on a particular service is a spammer, email from all users on that service get blocked. Madness.
Just like your comment to me, I feel your pain on this! I am so glad your email is now working (although not so glad about the rejections of course!)
ReplyDeleteJayne,
ReplyDeleteThanks. At least today's was a nice, positive rejection!
